Car pour Wittig le régime hétérosexuel repose, d’une part, sur un système de rapports sociaux d’infériorisation et d’aliénation des femmes, des personnes non hétérosexuelles et des personnes racisées, et, d’autre part, sur une structure de perception essentialiste – que Wittig appelle la « pensée straight » – dissimulant l’oppression derrière la notion de « différence », permettant ainsi à la domination de se reproduire si aisément."
