Decent people should avoid the NYT “in saecula saeculorum.” For better or worse, the age of arbiter-monopolists is well and truly at an end. TikTok may be a jungle, but it’s an exceedingly diverse jungle, and for those with eyes to see, the short-form talent there dwarfs anything NYT will ever have to offer. Marshall McLuhan was right!

@Canevecchio @rebeccawatson @Lazarou well, actually, I don't read the NYT. But it still important to have infos on what the NYT does with what consequences. Without this video, I wouldn't have known about what this media tried to do to Mamdani. I'm not in the US, and as much as I try to keep up with US news, there are still lots of it that escape me completely.

@ariane @rebeccawatson @Lazarou I have the same issues with following European news. To take one example: will SZ, TAZ, FAZ and der Spiegel tell me everything I need to know about what’s going on in Germany? Hardly. Without the posts from Germans here on Mastodon, a lot of the nuance disappears. And yet even on their worst days, any of them is better on German and European events than the NYT or WAPO are on what goes on in the US. Or so I believe.
