FCast

Open source protocol for multimedia content streaming

#Adblocker detection on #YouTube is working far too well rn so I've been using #Grayjay from #Futo and it's excellent. It can cast ad-free to any other device with #Fcast and Futo make a bunch of other awesome apps too. Grab that shit before they make it ilegal. https://grayjay.app/
Grayjay App - Follow Creators Not Platforms

@crft as a fun workaround, you can install #FCast on your machine, then cast #GrayJay from your phone to your #Linux computer. It's not a perfect or even nice solution, but I've been doing it anyway and it works well enough. It's also not #Google only, you can get it on #FDroid using the #FUTO repo.
Does anyone know anything about #fcast? There doesn't seem to be a lot of resources about it. Just a website, a git repo and documentation. Not much is explained though.
Can I use this as an alternative to #chromecast by installing an app on the TV, or building a dongle with a Raspi for example?
Do you know #FCast?

FCast is an open-source protocol designed to open wireless audio and video streaming to everybody. Unlike #Chromecast or #AirPlay, which are closed protocols, FCast is entirely open-source. This allows developers to create custom receiver implementations and integrate FCast into their existing applications, making it a more flexible and adaptable option. With support for various stream types like #DASH, #HLS, and mp4, it empowers developers to create their own unique streaming experiences. In contrast to traditional closed protocols, FCast champions open innovation. Developers can create custom receivers, integrate the client protocol into their own apps, or even enhance the protocol, contributing to an evolving open ecosystem. Available for Linux, MacOS, Windows, and Android. FCast offers a fully open-source protocol, enabling unrestricted innovation in the field of media streaming. #FCast #OpenDevelopment #MediaStreaming
