Nah ATM I s not an integral part of that team , nor a significant contributor, I respected that work an fused it as a learning opportunity
I am not quite there to use the virtual currency based #ai thing in #gitlab , I d rather focus real skills for real currency
Thank you

Why is #GitLab sending email messages about mandatory #2FA to accounts that are already using it? It's confusing and makes you wonder whether it's a phishing attempt.

Effective 27 April, GitLab will require MFA, according to an email sent to GitLab users.

This only includes gitlab.com, not self-managed instances. Accounts which exclusively use Single Sign On will not be required to enable MFA.

Users who do not enable MFA before the deadline will be automatically opted-in to MFA using a token sent to the email associated with the account.

GitLab recommends anyone using password authentication for the GitLab API migrate to using Personal Access Tokens.

GitLab's email does not cite a reason for the change, but the likely motivation is the threat of supply chain attacks on open source projects.

#GitLab

As you know #gitlab sent out emails saying "action required" to enable MFA. I know i have had that enabled for years, but I sure logged on to verify that; had to enter TOTP to get on.

What happened next... I suddenly get an email saying that I have been granted access to a new group "quite2", and my Mumla project has been moved to https://gitlab.com/quite2/mumla and made private, WHAT?!

I managed to move it back under /quite/ but wtf was that #gitlab

I'm undecided whether spam is on the level of marketing teams or marketing teams on the level of spammers.

The "#GitLab security team" just decided to send a legitimate, "urgent" email that I have to update my account and add MFA before it's too late because they enable mandatory MFA.

Ignoring that my account has MFA for many many many years.

They actually have a flow to enforce MFA in their product that works quite well. Why did they bother with the email? Rhetorical question.
