We cannot learn to live with #COVID by ignoring it. #CovidIsNotOver - it leads to internal damage of every organ system, even in those who think they've recovered.

#COVIDisAirborne so we must improve #ventilation and #filtration and #WearAMask when rates are high.

We need a way to know when those rates are high and not be tricked into thinking the risk is low when it's not. #Wastewater levels can help, but aren't available everywhere.

I'm wearing my #mask, #vaccinated and #boosted. Join me!

I'm playing around more and more with Notion, for bookmarks, notes, images, database tables and scribbles. I'm really enjoying it, despite the learning curve.
I even started looking at YouTube tutorials that are incredibly useful. Stops me flailing around quite so much.
I love tracking all the films I've seen and still want to see. I made a very small one-click template to add another film URL.
I love learning things.

So nice to be able to do so many different things, and amazingly it's free.

#introduction

My name is David. I'm a husband, and father of two very small #kids, and live in the Echo Park area of Los Angeles, California.

I'm a Lead Software Engineer @ Sweetgreen 🥗 focusing on Infrastructure (primarily AWS) and Site Reliability.

Ask me questions about #aws #docker #devops #sre #terraform. I love to teach and will do my best to respond.

I'm interested in #ClimateJustice, #WalkableCities, #HousingJustice, #USPolitics, and #homelab. I value patience and empathy.

I’ve been here for a couple of weeks now, it was really a ‘getting my foot in the door’ thing to test the water. So far it’s been a real pleasure. I quickly felt that this is a nicer place, who knew a social media platform could have an atmosphere?

I’ve followed more people & have been followed by more people, & some of my toots have had more engagement from like-minded people than ever before.

#mastodon has very quickly become my go to place. Thank you all & have a lovely Sunday 🙏🏼

Hello! I think it is important to add IMAGE DESCRIPTIONS in your photos posted here. It helps make your post accessible to people with visual disabilities 😊

I follow @PleaseCaption to remind me about this. Thank you #ImageDescriptions #photos

#NewHere #introductions

Gentle reminder for new users, like me, accessibility is a huge thing here in the fediverse. It is highly encouraged to use Alt-Text / Image Captions / Image Descriptions on your posts that include photos, videos and gifs! Thank you  #Accessibility #Fediverse
@CassandraZeroCovid I've posted about the fallacious CDC Community Level map many times including again yesterday.

More and more indications that more people are wearing masks.

Spread the word that this is happening.

Apparently people are getting tired of being sick.

Suggest HEPA purifiers and remote meetings.

Multimodal neuroimaging in post-COVID syndrome and correlation with cognition.

Post-COVID syndrome patients presented persistent structural and functional brain abnormalities in cortical, limbic and cerebellar areas 11 months after the acute infection. These changes are associated with cognitive dysfunction and contribute to a better understanding of the pathophysiology of the post-COVID syndrome.

Having run my own test mastodon server, I can tell you that boosting is REALLY important. That's how posts propagate between servers that are not federated together.

I may get a bit technical, and it can be hard to describe but it's something like this:

Let's say that you have 2 servers, A and B that are not connected. They have their own federated timelines that is vastly different.

let's assume they have their users @a@A and @b@B that are mutuals. If user @a@A sees something interesting on theirs federated timeline and boosts it, user @b@B will see that on their own home page. But more importantly server B will now know about and download that post, and everyone else on B server will be able to see that post on their own federated timeline!

And that's why you boost, guys! It helps posts to spread.
