But I could cite any number of well-fed, comfortable, serenely invested #tech professionals who want the gravy train to keep dripping.
I was in this scene for a little while so I know, at least, that high-tech types are dead sure their mechanized and computerized lives will go on chugging forward in basically the same manner and direction. They don't think about it. They just feel the hum of the power all around them, they persuade themselves that they're surely surrounded by the best possible approximation of eternity, and that's how it will always be.
