I'm attempting to fix a crack in a teapot with milk. I know, I know.

I suspect it won't work - not because I think the technique doesn't work. I've used it once on a cup and that fix has lasted years. But the weight of tea in the teapot is much greater, the cracks are more extensive and there's more heat stress from the boiling water.

While I'm waiting for it to set I can't help but keep going back and tapping the skin. It's like hard cellophane! So, maybe there's a chance.

A write up about my mission to fix my windows (well catches anyway)... 3D printing, then getting CNC milled replacements.
only took me a few (cough) years.

When I'm fixing windows

DIY 3D modelling and printing replacement window catches

When you need to stop spending money on driving to distant laundromats to wash your clothes,
And you are too poor to be cheap,
And you want to help out your fellow homeless folks by sharing appliances, tools, food, water and power,
But you at least get a washing machine for free,
But the off grid inverter you have can't give the motor enough power for long enough to turn a drum of wet clothes around,
And the only work you can legally do is a LONG way from making any money,
And the new inverter you need is $900 or more,
And you still have yet to pay this month's car loan payment or a whole lot of other obligations and debts,

Wouldn't you be asking for help too?

This morning was the day I taught my dog to blep. Blepping is when they stick out their lil pink tongues and I've decided it is so adorable that I want to be able to ask for it.

In other news, I guess I should give a new intro to folks on this server who don't yet know me.

Hi! I'm Shan. Been around Mastodon for awhile but recently moved to this new server home. I'm into loads of things. Here's a start...

You ever fix something and realize just how janky everything is holding together?

We have a couple doors in our house that have always sagged and wiggled when you moved them. I finally learned how to fix this problem and did it last night. The first one someone tried to hold up with machine screws. And the second the screws were so short they did not touch the frame… they only made it into the door jam, which is a soft almost cardboard like interior.

I have a trackball where the rubber feet are partially falling of. I was thinking of removing them, cleaning the remaining glue and grime with "Goo Gone", and then re-glue the feet back. Is that a good approach? If yes, what type of glue should I use for the feet?

@kate

Unplugged it, took it back to the bathroom, plugged it in—and it happily reset? To the right time, even? (These have all been running 2-3 minutes fast, last few years. I can adjust the time, but they always drift, so why bother?)

Anyway, no clue what I did, but thank you, clock & repair gods? I was not looking forward to trying to find a replacement, since all the new ones have features I don't want, & also $$$.

Blanking on the right hashtag; hints, anyone?
