An Act of Resistance

Legal Eagle just posted a video on Nebula (I'm sure it'll be on YouTube soon) that does show that the President violated international treatise and therefore the Constitution by arresting Maduro.
There's also the issue of Head of State Immunity and the legal principle of Equal Dignity.
Equal Dignity is what I think is itching under my skin the most, but I didn't have words for. We will not always be the most powerful country. And if we want to maintain our rights when that happens, the best thing we can do is maintain the equal dignity of others in smaller and less powerful countries. We can't just invade counties because we don't like them if we want to protect our dignity in the future. By arresting Maduro we give permission to other countries to indict us in politicized courts and invade our country to kidnap and prosecute people so indicted.
My niece comes to the U.S. most years from Europe to visit her grandfather.
This year she was stopped at the airport, taken into an interrogation room, accused of being a prostitute, had her phone taken and scanned, and released.
You know, in case you were wondering why tourism to the U.S. is down.
You ever fix something and realize just how janky everything is holding together?
We have a couple doors in our house that have always sagged and wiggled when you moved them. I finally learned how to fix this problem and did it last night. The first one someone tried to hold up with machine screws. And the second the screws were so short they did not touch the frame… they only made it into the door jam, which is a soft almost cardboard like interior.
I posted on the bad place that kidnapping/arresting the leader of a foreign government is illegal.
Someone has asked me "as a legal nerd, why don't we have authority to arrest people in other countries?"
And... just... what a wild question. I'm so frustrated by the framing and the ridiculousness of it. It's the wrong question. We should be asking: who gives us the authority to arrest people in another sovereign nation?
I mean... tell me if I'm wrong. But this is a violation of international law and the sovereignty of Venezuela, right?
And it's a violation of US law as most presidents have said they don't have the authority to act without congressional approval.
Some bullet-points for something I'm exploring:
- Jesus never said anything new.
- Everything in the Tanakh is sufficient to see all of who God is.
- The NT is not "new." It is a repeating of existing biblical themes.
What's "new" about Jesus is the destruction of the Second Temple - this would be the context from which much of the Gospels/Epistles are written. It's written like an echo of the destruction of the First Temple...
MGT breaking with Trump over Epstein has been such a shocking but welcome change. It really shows how MAGA is falling apart. To hear that Trump called her and yelled at her so loud her staff heard him because releasing the Epstein files would hurt “his friends” is so interesting. I hope this gets a lot of traction in the media.
One of the most important tools you can use on the internet to protect yourself from online security and privacy threats is… an ad-blocker.
In this deep-dive (and one of my favorites), I explain how ad blockers defend against surveillance and malware. I also have plenty of ad blocker suggestions for you to consider!
