A #VictoriaBC man who recently celebrated his 100th birthday has seen many changes in #BritishColumbia over the years, including how people of different ethnic backgrounds are treated.

Wayne Chow was born in #Cumberland on #VancouverIsland on May 4, 1924.

His father #emigrated there from #China to work in the coal mines.

Weeks after Wayne was born, he became one of the 1st #Chinese #Canadians documented with a certificate of #immigration called the #CI45 certificate.

[Going to do a very American thing] Where are my #tea drinkers at? My mom lived with her maternal grandparents until she was 7. They both #emigrated from #Ireland in the early 20th century. Separately and #illegally. She grew up drinking strong black tea, so I grew up drinking strong black tea.
