Living on the traditional homelands of the Steh-Chass Band of the Squaxin Island Tribe.

Very kind person, but with boundaries. I am interested in history & weather, the outdoors & nature, folklore & gossip, good books & good television. #GlutenFree enthusiast, potato-dependent.

I really hope Katie Wilson wins in Seattle.

I’m also watching the Tumwater School Board elections.

All the people going to No Kings protests in small cities in red states are so brave. I saw the just from Missouri and it makes me happy that people will stand up.
I got the flu and novavax shots today and my God that was the most painful vaccination I’ve had in decades. The man just jabbed the needle in really forcefully and didn’t even pinch my skin. Basically gave me a vasovagal response and I almost threw up.
Reward yourself for doing chores with a second cup of coffee, I tell myself glumly as I finish my first cup of coffee.
I forgot I already made cole slaw so we had 3 veg for dinner. My kid tried to take ALL the beets.
Putting biscuits in the oven, beets are boiling, corn is cooking with browned butter, chicken on the grill, deciding between cucumber salad or zucchini as the second vegetable.
You know, it’s almost 2 and I’m way behind on chores but I’m going to make a cup of tea and look at my garden.

Do we even know how to mourn anymore? What happened in Texas is deeply sad, and fresh and is also a wound that begs to be pried open.

Caught a video of a well-known Texas baker saying “sometimes we need a reason to celebrate even when things are bad, so I’m making a cake for husband’s half-birthday that he doesn’t even know is his birthday”.

You can eat cake when you’re sad, too.

Context I’m no contact with a family member in the group.

Finally figured out how to block the family group chat without leaving the group a while ago and it has lowered my stress so much.
