UUA and GenZ unite!
This is going to be the longest post I've ever made.
I'm an atheist anarchist that goes to church.
Weird, right?
Here's how it happened. The more I watched all the madness it started to consume me with rage and no means of release. I needed to find a face to face algorithm free place to connect with fellow humans and not lose all my hope.
Enter the Unitarian Universalists.
My ideal relationship is someone with the mind of a scientist and the soul of a hippy. Reason and logic that reinforces kindness and compassion without a top down priest/deity dogma telling me that I should just believe and obey.
On my first visit to my UUA community in Michigan I knew I had found my tribe. A healthy inclusive tribe that holds the doors wide open to LGBTQ+ and lives and breathes social justice.
Unfortunately as with other religious groups membership is weak.
What confounds me is why our community isn't swarming with GenZ?
We have no commandments, just seven principles of kindness and social justice that screams at the Oligarchs and authoritarians, is anti-consumerist and pro-sharing.
I was born between the boomers and GenX, what is now called generation Jones. I feel we have almost everything in common with GenZ, the difference being that we had to go without internet for thirty years, and that, UUA and GenZ could create a synergistic resistance to the corrupt system that we are all being crushed by.
Please, please, please! If you are a GenZ, or GenZ at heart, come visit and let's crush this system together!
BTW, if you do hold a personal belief in a giant sky being, but hold our principles in your heart, you're welcome here too.
Do what thou wilt.
