A dietary study of over 1,000 80-year olds, followed for 7 years, found that higher egg consumption was associated with lower incidence of Alzheimer's disease. Those who ate eggs at least once per week had approximately half the risk of those who ate eggs less than once per month. The choline in eggs is suggested to be a possible reason for this association.

Older adults who ate more than one egg per week had a lower risk of developing Alzheimer’s dementia and showed fewer Alzheimer’s-related brain changes. About 39% of this association was explained by higher dietary choline intake from eggs.
