I'll be at 2 different workplaces tomorrow for two different local nonprofits.
LifeCycles Project team is having their jam making work party all day, out of Mustard Seed Distribution HQ kitchen. I'll be there most of tomorrow afternoon.
In the morning, I'll be helping out with another Iyé Creative Collective event 👇
Seeds and Synergies is a gathering that aims to bring together community members, growers, farmers, and farmers to be, facilitators, and partners from racialized groups to reflect on the role of Culturally Relevant Crops and Land Access in shaping the access of these groups to locally grown, healthy and nutritious foods, education, employment opportunities, income, and belonging to the land, to themselves and their communities.
For the past five years, Iyé Creative has been working with community members and local farmers to learn about cultural crops – plant relatives that carry deep meaning for our food, health, and traditions on Coast Salish lands. We’ve also been pushing for fairer land policies so more people can grow the foods and medicines that matter to them.
Cultural foods aren’t just products on a market, or grocery store shelf. They’re living connections that tie us to land, spirit, and each other.
