冰讃 芒果雪花冰

台湾で食べたいデザートというと、マンゴーかき氷というのも比較的上位に挙がってくるのではないかと思いますが、実は台湾のマンゴーの季節というのも5月から9月に限られていて、特に旬とされているのは6月から7月、となっています。それはつまり台湾の暑い時期ということになり、私が訪台を避けている期間に合致します。マンゴーは私も大好きな果物なので、本当はその旬の美味しさを味わってみたいものなのですが、暑さに特に弱い私なのでこれまで諦めてきました。

しかし、夏の間だけ営業していてマンゴーと共にシーズンが始まる、マンゴーかき氷の有名店である冰讃が、私の今回の台湾訪問に合わせたかのように今年は4月29日から営業を始めたとのことなので、満を持して夕食後のデザートとして行ってみました。これまで私が台湾へ行ったときには営業していなかったので、これが初めてのチャンスです。

早めに夕食を終えて午後6時頃に店頭に到着すると、想定通り20〜30名ほどの行列ができていました。客層としては日本人の割合が高いものの、現地の人もちらほらといるといった感じで、他の国の人は見かけませんでした。年齢層は若者、子供連れの家族から60代あたりの夫婦まで様々でした。店内の滞在時間が30分までに制限されているということもあり、皆食べたらすぐに席を立っているので、行列の割に待ち時間は短く、30分程度で済んだのではないかと思います。

メニューにはマンゴー以外のフルーツの、それぞれの雪花冰(ふわふわかき氷)と刨冰(昔ながらのかき氷)のほかジュースなどもありますが、やはり初めてなのでおすすめの芒果雪花冰(マンゴーふわふわかき氷)をいただくことにしました。また、かなり大きなサイズなので二人でシェアです。

ミルク味のかき氷の上に完熟の台湾マンゴーがたっぷり載って、練乳がちょっとだけかかっているというシンプルな構成ですが、マンゴーの量がとても贅沢です。マンゴーはトロトロに熟れていて、甘みも非常に強くてとても美味しかったです。練乳の量や氷自体の甘さは控えめになっていて、マンゴーと一緒に食べてちょうどいい具合になっていました。

世界的な物価高の影響で、価格はちょっとずつ上がってきているようですが、今年は去年と同じく200元(約1000円)となっており、この内容を考えると安すぎるくらいではないでしょうか。やはり行列を厭わず行ってみて良かったと思います。日本からの観光客が集まってしまうのも仕方ない、と納得してしまいました。
