We made buttermilk chicken curry last night, for the first time, a big batch, and BOY IT WAS GOOD, we of course made it spicy because we like spice, but man that is the best curry either of us has ever produced

I cannot wait to eat it again tonight and tomorrow

The thing here is that we make our own butter, when heavy cream is on sale we massively stock up and then use our kenwood kitchen machine to whip it into butter, that we portion and freeze. But what to do with all the buttermilk? Well we froze it last time and ended up trying using it here, and it was a huge success. We are for sure doing this again

And second for today is the neglected Buttermilk Pie. This was delicious. Tangy and just sweet enough. Dishes like this are what make me sad to think about the homogenization of American foods. Regional cooking and baking used to be deeply tied to what a region produced, directly tied to climate, soil, and the peoples who made a home there. Even after modernization and grocery stores, food was still connected to regional companies which catered to regional taste. Now… Now I have to go a specialty producer for quality cornmeal.
