Just shipped v0.1.0 of CellSeg β€” an open-source Android app that runs Cellpose cell segmentation on-device

Free, MIT-licensed, no ads, no tracking. ~14 MB cyto3 ONNX model, runs fully offline after first download. Optional Cellpose-SAM cloud fallback via Hugging Face for harder cases

Written up the launch with the architecture, the licensing chapter, and an honest list of what v0.1.0 isn't yet:

Working with data from Metabolomics Workbench again, and it always feels like the data is yelling at me with the fields in all caps.

Now that I've double checked, the Protein Data Bank file format was like this too, all caps everywhere (even more so).

@EvoScale I was hoping that more educational systems would integrate #bioinformatics data to expand student proficiency range, but I'm not sure just how engaged Guidance Counselors are - even in more technical institutes.

Factor in current global destabilization, and the combination and permutation logic, do not bode well in making significant, widely distributed change.

Using Rust typestates for BCF writing

If you’ve ever needed to produce a typed binary format where the header constrains what the body can contain, you’ve probably written validation code that runs at runtime and hoped your tests cover …
