Good morning!

"You may not always have a comfortable life, and you will not always be able to solve all of the world's problems at once, but don't ever underestimate the importance you can have - because #history has shown us that #courage can be #contagious and #hope can take on a #life of its own."

~ #MichelleObama

Don't ever underestimate what it is possible for you to do.

Hope. #Believe. #Act. Keep going.

I met a guy on #FacebookMarketplace who was offloading #wood #scraps so I picked them up from him. Turns out he’s an #etsy dealer who makes these beautiful futon beds, and he’s always got scraps. Anyways, I turned those free scraps into this #MidCenturyModern #pet #bed using basically all #free materials. Even the bedding was made using scrap fabric from an #InteriorDesigner getting rid of old fabrics. #sustainibility #reuse #upcycle #woodworker #woodwork #maker

I got an old army map book at a consignment shop & modified it until it was a nice sketchbook holder. Also painted all over it over the last three nights.

There’s a little video of all the sides of it & a short explanation over on my instagram page if you want to see that (doodlesofjam)

Marianne North traveled to 6 continents & 17 countries, painting exotic plants in remote & hazardous jungles… all while traveling alone in Victorian dress in the 1800s.

North depicted over 1,000 scientifically accurate pitcher plants, orchids, ferns & more. Her oil paintings introduced botanists to multiple previously unidentified species & several are named after her.

Her art has its own gallery at Kew Royal Botanical Gardens. https://artsandculture.google.com/story/marianne-north-an-unsung-pioneer-of-botanical-art-kew-royal-botanic-gardens/OQVB7c9EslEtHQ?hl=en #HistoryRemix #history #art #science

More than 800 remarkable paintings cover the walls of the Marianne North Gallery. But who was she and why did her art matter?

I dreamt I was learning a language with two important words, wimak and mak. You used ‘mak’ in factual sentences where the basis for your assertion was anything you could touch (including taste) and ‘wimak’ if what you knew came from dreams, communication with ghosts, or intuition. Stuff you saw or heard was an unmarked case. People argued about whether tv or internet was wimak or not. #linguistdreams
#ArtQuilt made with scraps. Silk on linen. Cut #freeform, no pattern, nothing bought. Linen base is scraps from an old shirt, silk is scraps from an unraveled thrifted rag rug. #reuse #recycle #quilt #quilting #TextileArt #Applique

#Repair on my son's torn flannel pajamas. I cut a piece of scrap silk to size and used double-sided, iron-on fusible web to adhere it and cover the tear. Silk is super strong despite its delicacy and is readily available at thrift stores (check the bin of cheap scarves!) Using this method you can cut a patch any size and shape you need. Always round the corners to prevent peeling. I sometimes also embroider around the edges to make the patch even more durable. Mending #reuse #sewing
