Dear fellow handcrafters: has anyone of you tried to crochet a weighted blanket? Any tips or recommendations? I'm starting with thick wool for socks and plastic pony beads.

Knitters of Mastodon: the enamel on my metal needles is wearing off at the points, any ideas about the best way to stop the ragged edges from catching the wool I’m knitting?
I’ve given it one coat of clear nail varnish which has helped a bit, but it’s not smooth yet.
I’d like to keep the needles, as they were my Granny’s

I was spinning the light grey Faroe, and thought 'I'm sure I got a jumper's worth of this.' so I went rooting. I'ts even better than a whole jumper's worth of grey!

I must have had a stripey one planned but now I'm wondering if different colour marled three ply where the dominant colour changes would be nice.

Either way it's a big project. So at least I have a bit of colour to stop me getting too bored with it.
