Oops – I made a boo-boo 😳

This fly isn't in fact Dexiosoma caninum – rather, it's the extremely rare Dexia vacua, thought almost extinct in Western Europe 😲

I saw a male on 14 May, but females look different, with dark lateral abdominal bands. The wing venation & bristle pattern confirm that it's D. vacua 👍
