The white petals carried their droplets like whispered secrets,
while the purple heart glowed with quiet intensity.
Softness on the surface, passion hidden at the center
a beautiful contradiction impossible to ignore.
Sometimes the most delicate things hold the deepest desires.

Core.

Now to the next mini-series, also done using Yongnuo's macro flash, attached to 20mm lens with 48mm of extension tubes. If my math is correct, this is supposedly 2,4X magnification. Funny thing is, this same lens (Voigtländer 20mm) is the one I usually use in reverse to easily get into 3,2X magnification with a reverse-ring. However, for my bad luck, the electronic reverse-ring is not designed to accommodate a macro flash at front (I did improvise a way but it's shaky and unreliable). When I shot this mini-series as well, it was cumbersome to get up close handheld instead of a rail; it wasn't steady and often I'd push the subject itself away before I can capture it.
Anyway, in this shot here, the same mint plant that I've shot before (but no ants!), and I've cropped a chunk to focus on this portion of the image only. The colors here are a result of my own touch with tone-splitting technique.
Worth noting that I've been using a somewhat new method for sharpening, in this image and some of those before 😎

Zygaena viciae (fam. Zygaenidae)

[EN] I know the photo is really bad, but this is the first Zygaena I get to photograph this year and I feel excited about that. This is a moth that flies during the day, shows bright colours and whose antennae swell at the end. So... is this a moth or a butterfly?
Its bright colours are a warning about its toxicity (this is called aposematism) because they are able to synthetize cyanide.
Here you are interesting information (in Spanish) about the genus Zygaena: https://juan-e-isa.blogspot.com/2017/05/zygaena-la-mariposa-que-envenena-con.html

Finally for now ... these orange & black spotted beetles were among the most common things in the garden, & yet somehow I kept ignoring them, only getting a few poor pictures.

They're genus Lachnaia, but could be L. pubescens, L. paradoxa, or L. tristigma: I'm not sure the pictures are good enough to be definitive.
