Energy transitional kitchen: moving off gas & wood without a full remodel. Someone must have traded an original fireplace for the wood burning stove, which likely became the main source of heat. But since we brush past it to use the door, someone was bound to be burned. Then the gas lines were red tagged for not being up to code. Great! We had to replace the gas water heater too, so now we have a rooftop solar water heater and a small electric backup. We use a countertop oven and an induction cooktop--neither very good, in truth.
