@Norobiik I'd think they would have ditched the walkie talkies or at least taken one apart to check it.
Hopefully at least one of those pagers failed to go off. I'd like to see a tear down to see how they concealed the surprise. Putting it inside the battery, as some have suggested, would not be easy unless you had a battery manufacturing plant.
And there is not a lot of extra space inside a pager.

This thing smells just like 9/11 and the Afghanistan withdrawal: did they WANT the disaster to happen, or are they really that incompetent?
@mike805 Yup. Also one of the things that contributed to the debacle is hubris & overconfidence on the part of the IDF. They aren't as good as they think they are, having not fought against a comparable opponent for a long time. Badly underestimating Hamas was also a mistake.
IMO, Ukraine's armed forces are better and more battle tested having fought a major power to a standstill. More principled too.

Israel was pretty awesome a few decades ago when the Arabs tried to gang up on them. Yes they have been coasting on that while fighting non-peers for all this time.
America might well get the same sort of rude awakening if it faced a near-equal adversary. Hamas wasn't even a near-equal, just combined clever use of new tech with kamikaze resolve.
@Norobiik Israel's current position is not sustainable either in terms of public opinion or cost. So the longer Hamas can hold them there the better for Hamas.
The strategic plan appears to have been to destroy Israel's international standing and immunity from criticism. That has been successful.
Very true, Israel has hardly any friends left. Even the UK is inching away bit by bit as the Gaza death toll mounts.
This is the guy that even hardcore Israeli intelligence says is 100% committed to the Palestinian cause (ie. he never cracked). And he's not tolerant of people who compromise with the IDF or security agencies either.
While still in prison, he held the face of one Palestinian fellow prisoner against a hot iron stove because of suspected collaboration with the Israelis.
