#Greens will oppose NDIS cuts
The Greens say they will fight #Labor on efforts to save money from the #NationalDisabilityInsuranceScheme, warning the government against unfairly #targeting #disabled #Australians as it looks for budget savings.
Labor has quietly established a razor gang to drive budget savings from the $52bn program, with a senior treasury official relocating to the Department of Health earlier this year.
Growth in NDIS spending was 10.3% last year, well above the federal government’s target rate of 8%. Health minister Mark Butler and the NDIS minister, Jenny McAllister, have indicated they are continuing to urgently try to bring spending growth down to between 5% and 6% annually.
Greens spokesman #JordonSteelJohn said the party would not support cuts.
“Disabled people are used to fighting for their #basicrights. They won’t stop now, and the Greens will back their fight,” he said.
Every cut Labor makes to the #NDIS removes a critical support from a disabled person and puts the labour back onto the family to pick up the slack, amid a cost of living crisis.
#Greens #MehreenFaruqi, said in a statement today:
“It is time for #Albanese to dump #Trump, bring the troops home, & focus on helping #Australians deal with the fallout of this catastrophe.
#Australia must not stay hitched to the wagon of an #unstable, #bloodthirsty President who even his domestic allies say has “gone #insane”. He criticises Australia near daily, yet #Labor is unwilling to condemn him & his actions.”

“Last week, the Northern Territory government revived a 77-year-old law to force fuel retailers to provide their "full cost structure" to prove that they're not ripping off motorists.” (Source ABC)
Why do these measures have to be taken by States/Territories while the #Federal govt sits idly by and watches? I. These times of ‘trouble’ and #EconomicUncertainties we ought to see a #National approach to the problems, nationwide regulations and legistaltion to fight #Grifting and #OpportunisticProfitTaking for the better good of all #Australians FFS.

#Australians and #NewZealanders , at least may still be missing this blokes brilliant , unique Satire.
Here is one Mr Clarkes "small noting" definition of Satire itself:
satire
Noun:
a reaction to the process whereby
politicians and public figures
hold the community up to ridicule
and contempt.
-- John Clarke
Satirist, Comedian, Great Bloke.
Here is an excellent reissue of an article / essay written back in 2017 or thereabouts.
https://insidestory.org.au/john-clarke-and-the-power-of-satire/
It has some 2026 observations backed onto the end so that the front bit wont fall off.
Including this lift.
"Clarke thought that a satirist should think about solutions as well as problems. He never kicked somebody because they were down, but he also thought there was little point kicking somebody simply because they were up."
If your into actual satire and comedy ... have a geek.
Adnkronos - ultimoratop: Harry e Meghan umiliati, 33mila firme contro il viaggio in Australia pagato dai contribuenti

Harry and Meghan humiliated, 33,000 signatures against the taxpayer-funded trip to Australia
(Adnkronos) - Australians do not intend to fund the Sussex family’s next visit to the country.
The #Senate this morning debated a #bill that will require #both #houses of #Parliament to vote before the #Government can send #Australians to #wars overseas.
90% of Australians support this reform with most astounded that the Parliament does not already have this reform.
The #Albanese #Labor Government and the #Liberals #oppose this.
Both are committed to keeping the decision to send Australians to war as a #secret decision made by a handful of #cabinet members with no democratic #oversight.
Currently, in Australia, the #PrimeMinister or #DefenceMinister can #unilaterally take Australia to war with no parliamentary oversight before that decision is made.
#Polling has routinely shown an #overwhelming #majority of Australians want there to be parliamentary oversight prior to the #deployment of #troops.
War power reform bills have been proposed in various forms for over 20 years, but have been routinely rejected by the Liberal and Labor parties.
The Albanese Labor Government has sent 85 military personnel, including an RAAF E-7A Wedgetail aircraft and medium-range air-to-air missiles, to the #UAE.
This decision was made in a closed room by a handful of Labor cabinet members, with zero parliamentary or public engagement or consent.
We now know that the information collected by the E-7A Wedgetail is being provided to the #US in this disastrous war of choice on Iran.
Senator #DavidShoebridge, Greens spokesperson on Defence and Foreign Affairs, said: "The Albanese Labor Government has dragged Australia into another US #foreverWar, and the public never got a say.
"Having Parliament vote before sending a country to war is common in #democracies. That is the case in #Germany, #France, #Finland, #Denmark and #Spain, to name a few. But the war parties here want to keep making that decision in a dark room that only they can enter.
"The majority of Australians do not support #Trump and #Netanyahu's war on Iran or the Albanese Labor Government backing it in. This is why the war parties are so resistant to giving Australians a say on this latest disastrous war.
"We are living through the chaos of a war that was supported by a handful of powerful people without public consent. If we had this law in place, then the Government would have had to justify their position before committing troops and the public would have had a chance of stopping it.
"Right now we are seeing death and violence spreading across the #MiddleEast, and Australians are feeling the #economic #impacts with cost-of-living increases and #chaos.
"Australians should decide if we go to war, not #Washington, not a handful of people in the war parties and not #Trump.
"We needed this law before #Vietnam, before #Afghanistan, before #Iraq and we certainly need it now." #auspol

The Greens today will introduce a Bill that will require both Houses of Parliament to vote before the Australian Defence Force can be sent overseas to engage in warlike actions.
