@mike805 @zackwhittaker There’s an update on the original blog post saying that he did get it resolved.

There was an accidental social experiment where some chimpanzees fought over spoiled food. The nastiest males won out, ate the food, and died. That chimp tribe became quite a bit nicer after that.

In possibly related news, all the Big Tech firms are going to spend essentially all their capital fighting over AI. Is it possible that AI is just poisonous and kills off Big Tech? The Internet would be a nicer place.

Someone might see that horrific large-scale public shaming and conclude they want "social media" banned. I want "social media" decentralised. We actually both want the same thing; an end to overgrown DataFarms that create large-scale anti-social behaviour.

But we might not realise that if we get into a discussion about it (online or off), because we're using the term "social media" in totally different ways, to mean related but very different things.

The best thing about running a ten year old pc is I can upgrade it with five year old parts.

This isn’t sci-fi. It’s a farm that plants, grows, and harvests automatically.

Fully automated technology is redefining agriculture in China.

There needs to be a refactoring and refocusing in the Linux world. It's so fragmented, so diffuse, that it sometimes seems like a false-flag-operation from commercial vendors, aimed at planting FUD about FOSS, and making money out of giving people easy UX, without having to learn technical stuff. Like it or not, the masses want ease, comfort. When Linux can deliver that, it will be the Year of Linux on the Desktop.

The Software Industry is one big hoax. In a world of Free Software and shared, verified knowledge, the common platform of civilization would be so vast, that there would be little need for customization to fit specific use cases. Selling software would not be a thing.

Capitalism sells you 10,000 types of mouse traps, none of which work very well, to sustain illusions of innovation rewarded, of consumer choice, of the American Dream.

The thing was that this cost a thousand bucks, the map about 4,90 😉

I was later using Map&Guide Travelbook (more expensive than Autocad) on my laptop. The only caveat there was to find a GPS sensor which worked on that damn brick.

Oh, I hate to drive. I drive a 2012 Honda that still only has 95,000 miles on it.

But it'll be a cold day in hell when I let a machine drive for me.
