A quotation from Norman F. Dixon

The values communicated by status-insecure parents are such that their children learn to put personal success and the acquisition of power above all else. They are taught to judge people for their usefulness rather than their likableness. Their friends, and even future marriage partners, are selected and used in the service of personal advancement; love and affection take second place to knowing the right people. They are taught to eschew weaknesses and passivity, to respect authority, and to despise those who have not made the socio-economic grade. Success is equated with social esteem and material advantage, rather than with more spiritual values.

Building durable and principled #structural change is very hard but #possible with #epistemic #kindredspirits who share historical materialist, postcolonial/decolonial and cultural values and pillars, instead of #transactionalism (highly prevalent in these times) that lacks historical, materialist, critical and cultural grounding, and thus, results, in most situations, in dissipating and dissolving the #liberatory #struggles into thin air.

Nor do you become a $trn gadget company by pricing items past the purchase threshold ...

... esp. when the cost of living for a large portion of the consumer base has been stretched close to the breaking point even before those insane Trump-tariffs were crushing the economy and hiking every single prize.

An important re-appropriation of the "transaction" concept out of the Trumpian misunderstanding.

And I love your personal confession to contract law --- such passion is the fire that forges true professionals (and true writers too).

“The antithesis of Taiwan’s values-based approach is one rooted in transactionalism, such as using financial incentives, aid and investments to secure and maintain diplomatic recognition.”

The problem with our society is not that we live in a capitalist society; we don't live in a capitalist society. #Capitalism would be an improvement over our current socio-cultural-economic system. The real problem is our society idolizes #neofeudalism and #neoliberalism—the intersection of #hyperindividualism, #productivism, #marketability, competitive #antagonism, #proprietarism, #transactionalism, and the #factory system of production. None of these are exclusive to "capitalism".
