Assistant Professor - Geology & Geophysics

The Department of Geology and Geophysics at the University of Wyoming invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Structural Geology or Tectonics, beginning in the Fall semester of 2026. We seek a dynamic and innovative scientist who will develop an internationally recognized, externally funded research program and contribute to excellence in teaching and mentoring at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We welcome applicants from all areas of structural geology and tectonics, including active tectonics and earthquake processes; plate boundary interactions; lithosphere-asthenosphere interactions; geochronology and thermochronology; interactions between tectonic and surface processes; and data integration and machine learning. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research complements and expands upon existing departmental strengths and addresses cutting-edge questions about the structure and dynamics of Earth’s crust.
