Still with the archive of 2024 and this test OR failed shot from a project with HSS (high-speed) I've worked on back then. The idea was to capture the dice mid-air as I was knocking the desk from below (with a hammer!) - I've tried one technique which is said to help surpass the limitation of the shutter speed (which is 1/8000s for my camera) - in short, I was triggering the flash itself by sound (using a special electronic trigger). What happened is that the speed was so high that the flash would fire out before the dice start jumping off the surface. The image below could be one of these failed attempts or it was maybe a just a test shot to see the quality of the light (I actually like it here as it looks like the light is coming from a window in the morning or at sunset).
Anyway, the final outcome of this experiment was that I turned back to my old (and tested) method of eye-hand coordination using HSS of the flash and a cable remote and trying to capture the moment manually (which I did eventually).
