The release adds Lua-based hooks alongside a simpler way to see how recently a PKGBUILD was last touched.

It's FOSS
I recently switched to #kdeplasma. I'm impressed! I even managed to get #Wayland working with my #Nvidia card (with the help of an #LLM). I stopped using KDE over 20 years ago, but it was my main #Linux desktop for years. It's the complete opposite of #Gnome or light DEs like #XFCE. I'm really enjoying it. It's refreshing to have a #desktopenvironment that doesn't treat me like I'm too stupid to deal with options. Anyway, KDE is really good!

The KDE Plasma 6.7 desktop environment is out now, bringing some great new features, the return of a classic theme and more UI upgrades.

@nekohayo @Natanox @fabiscafe cant we just accept that #desktopenvironment s cant be used interchangeably, and software support is hard given any amount of fragmentation?

KDE Plasma waves goodbye to X11 for Plasma 6.8

KDE developer David Edmundson has blogged about the upcoming purge of X11, as KDE Plasma moves to a Wayland-only world.

GamingOnLinux

As a daily Wayland user, I firmly stand against the removal of X11 support. Wayland has a lot of great features to it but not every application or game place nice with it. I get the sentiment that X11 is an outdated standard, because it is. However, there's a reason many people hate Wayland and it's not simple hate for change: there are still ways that X11 is better suited for users.

Colorado and California age verification bills exempt open source operating systems:

(Good to see some win in this front, although other laws like the US federal law and the Brazilian one don't exclude FOSS so the problem still exists)
(Also, as Switched to Linux pointed out in his video, the Colorado bill is still a bit vague regarding whether restrictive copyleft licenses like GPL are excluded: https://odysee.com/@switchedtolinux:0/bill-passed-foss-carve-out-in-colorado:f)

Colorado and California age verification bills exempt open source operating systems

Remember all the ruckus with various US states introducing operating-system level age verification laws? Colorado and California thankfully exempt open source.

I feel that #GNOME efforts on mobile are wasted.

Probably my biggest argument to NOT donate to @gnome when you see resources wasted on that.
