Personally, I suspect that Manjaro forking and going to a non-profit with community governance would actually be the best case scenario, as long as they can also secure some funding.

I wonder how Google's protectionist schemes will impact downstream ROMs like GrapheneOS, who will presumably alter the OS to allow installing from anywhere.

Still you can only install apps that exist, and Google's plans would likely hugely limit the range and popularity of independent non-Google apps, by limiting the audience.

Seems to me like we really need to focus as a community on getting at least one Linux phone fully daily driveable with reliable calls, texts, mobile data, camera etc.

All my #WebKit merge requests have been merged. Now #WebKitGTK supports touch PointerEvent API, touch point coordinates are fractional, synthesized mouse events are unbroken and both WebKitGTK and WPE WebKit handle pointer capture and release according to the spec. This should considerably improve compatibility of #Epiphany (#GNOME Web) with touch interfaces.

There are still some more things to fix in there, maybe someone in #mobilelinux #linuxmobile community would like to give it a try?

@grote Let's work towards good Android app support for #LinuxMobile 📱 so we can benefit from the nice #FreeSoftware apps that are there and being developed without having to worry about what Google does.

We at #phosh's @ev sure want to help there.

@grote we're voting with our wallets, invest some of your time into checking out alternatives to Android and iOS, look at what mobile Linux can offer, good potral to get overview is https://linmob.net/

If you develop app, there are lot of ways to easily port apps to (mobile) Linux too.

For Charon 1.6.0 I decided to steal a great feature from Organic Maps: You can now zoom in and out easier by double-tapping and moving the finger up and down.

A full list of changes can be found in the release notes:

Did you know that Catacomb's window manager has built-in curling?

Just tile a window, switch to the overview, then try and land it in the target zone using touch velocity!

Catacomb's 1.4.0 release is out, with some minor QoL improvements:
- Double-tap on the gesture handle now turns the display off
- Better iio-sensor-proxy support
- Improved touch velocity with different output scales and input polling rates

I see this effort as a perfect successor to the postmarketOS wiki tables, which relied on manually filled support levels.

It enables tracking across all distributions, different kernel versions, and patchsets.

It’s simple: you run a diagnostics app, and at the end, you can upload the results for everyone to see.
