Since last week, I've been using the vanilla Ubuntu #GNOME interface full-time for the first time since 2018 (I use #KDE #Plasma and it's the best!). It has evolved and improved nicely since I last tried it, but it still has SO MANY papercuts. The most egregious of those is the frequent "<application> is ready" notifications for various applications and windows you want to come to the foreground but don't. I had to find a maintained extension option to "fix" this https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/5410/grand-theft-focus/

KDE plasma is currently building up a Vulkan renderer which at some point replaces the OpenGL renderer on vulkan compatible graphic cards.

Since I am using the latest AMD Framework (and plasma is by far the superior Desktop for Linux) this is amazing news!
