I noticed this wild strawberry while it for a walk. Maybe it's an "escaped" cultivar or hybrid as it looks quite large for a wild strawberry. Wild strawberries are smaller and sweeter than the farmed ones, but I won't be tasting this one. It's at the side of a lane that has a lot of dog walkers.

Wild blackberry season has started with a vengeance. There are millions this year, good size ones, too, from all the rain. Plenty for us and the birds. Horrible to pick, of course. These ones were sown for us by the birds, years ago, and we just tend them and #harvest , freeze and eat throughout the year.

Sumac gummies. Topped with sumac sugar. I added some cane sugar to my prepared sumac water, boiled with agar-agar, and let it set before cutting into pieces. It’s tasty! But I think next time I’ll add more cane sugar to the water and roll the pieces in the sumac sugar instead of sprinkling it on top. I finally sifted out the infused sumac sugar and started soaking the fruit in water for sumac-ade last night (https://pixelfed.social/p/smwalker/466684818330984013). I’m looking forward to using the sugar. I have some agar agar that I’m planning on using to make “rubber candy” with the sumac-ade. I’ll probably reduce the remaining water into a syrup.
