Something that I find really psychologically difficult - especially while trying to find a job - is trying so hard to find my place in tech and needing to feel like I belong, and then at the same time feeling personally attacked by many on "social media" who make sweeping comments about "people in tech".

I know "they don't mean me", right? But even just reading it, because I identify as a Tech Worker, makes me feel like I am morally reprehensible to people.

But even worse, it makes me discouraged from finding tech work.

There are a lot of good, ethical, and supportive people in tech. Maybe in the minority. Let's celebrate THEM and don't let the assholes upstage us by giving them any stage time at all.

Celebrate the good in technology work. Show gratitude for those who help others. Ignore the toxicity, let it fade into a barely noticeable background noise.

It’s not quite 5pm on the west coast but I like to get to the shop early and make sure coffee is hot and ready so I am going to call it for the week!

That means if you are a #techworker you have not Union Shop, a Shop Steward, and someone working on your behalf.

Times are tough, I am ready to stand up and fight with you, for you, and for the future of skilled tech workers.

I can be pissed off or I can do something. I want a shop to steward, I want to find ways to make work worth it. I want to build something bigger than me, and I want to build community where it can be hard to find in today’s work place.

It’s bigger than Craig but he shows up every Friday for us, let’s give them something to look forward to.
