I do think there are problems in Laravel and Tailwind CSS as frameworks and tools, but I mostly avoid those because their respective authors are good buddies with DHH and are showing no signs of cutting ties or questioning his views or actions.

A proper leader would take a definite stand against racism and fascism to make it evident that they want their community to be safe.

Taylor Otwell --- author and leader of the PHP framework Laravel and the surrounding ecosystem --- seems to openly support DHH, a known fascist, racist, xenophobe.

The big blowup this week over #DavidHeinemeierHansson #DHH and his company #37Signals doing a hostile takeover of the open-source #RubyOnRails is a good reminder that the company's founders have been going crazier and crazier over the last several years. Here, tech columnist Jake Lazaroff looks at a recent DHH blog post which is openly and unapologetically white supremacist, complaining about how non-whites are "raping" Great Britain and causing the country's downfall.

DHH's politics are not normal. Maybe they used to be, I don't know, but as of right now the dude is way outside of what most people would consider moral or acceptable.

Reminder: David Heinemeier Hansson is a racist and transphobic shit.

Did you know that the Danish race drivers prepare for Le Mans by eating burgers on the Thursday before the race. Race drivers really are just like you and I.
And even though Michelle Gatting is not able to drive this year's Le Mans she will still be in our burger racing hearts.

Merchants of complexity

Basic problems people could easily solve for themselves, cheaply and quickly, getting turned into scary and insurmountable challenges that only a sophisticated solution (usually on a subscription!) will cure.

Merchants of complexity

It's hard to sell simple, because simple looks easy, and who wants to pay for that? Of course, everyone says they want something simple, but the way they buy reveals that they usually don't. This is the secret that the merchants of complexity have long since figured out. That clever and sophisticated beats basic and straightforward mos...

Apple’s new extortion regime to keep big app makers

Apple’s recent threat of financial audits for developers who dare link to their own website was a big, revealing moment to a lot of people. Folks who perhaps didn’t think Apple would be “that kind of company”. That they wouldn't so blatantly threaten developers into compliance with such overtly onerous and punitive terms. But they did....
