The patent status is "abandoned", now probably like most of the folks who are frothing at the mouth over this - I am not a patent lawyer - however, it seems to me that a status of "abandoned" is unlikely to mean that Framework can prevent other people from using this tech. Why is everyone so quick to assume the worst and pile on without any thought?

You are not, and never will be forced to buy a Framework laptop. Just be happy with that.
