Wall Street Says That a Company That Loses Billions is Worth Trillions

A venture that loses billions of dollars and is run entirely by a person who routinely says crazy things doesn’t sound like a trillion-dollar company, but Wall Street seems to think otherwise.

Oh.... one thing that almost screwed me on the Spanish test I mention above. For some inscrutable reason, the people who made the test decided to ignore capitalization conventions.

So one question began with "lucas...." and you had to accord a verb with "lucas." There I was... thinking "wait... this should be Lucas with a capital 'l' and then it would be third-person singular... but are they in fact referring to an object called a "luca" that I've never heard of, and then the verb should be third-person plural?"

I went with the first options. My suspicion that I should ignore the capitalization was later confirmed when Bilbao and another place name appeared without capitalization.

Thank you for the confusion, test makers. 👍 (/sarc)

Even I, as a Norwegian, know that there is something completely off with the #capitalization when this loony types... No wonder he has issues following other rules.

We are seeing the #Enclosures of the #Internet #Commons.

Just as the free #airwaves were #regulated, corporatized, and oligopolized in the 1930's, now we see this #centralization and #capitalization of the internet.

Capitalization Tip: File Formats

👉 Most of the time, use all caps for file formats:

“Discussing GIFs out loud is now against office rules. The last argument over pronunciation ended in two black eyes and a broken toe.”

"I forgot to attach the PDF!"

👉 But use lowercase when writing them as extensions:

“Look for the .docx extension on the file name.”

“Maybe downloading Virus.exe was a mistake.”

How Multitasking Affects Capitalization and What You Can Try Instead - Johanna Rothman

I've been working with a new-to-the-organization senior leader, Steve, who struggles with this challenge: He wants to capitalize some operational expenses. (That's a move from OpEx to CapEx.) He is convinced that will give him some freedom to change things while everyone is still working hard. So they've asked all the technical people to fill […]

"Capitalism and extreme poverty: A global analysis of real wages, human height, and mortality since the long 16th century
[…]
• Data on real wages suggests that, historically, extreme poverty was uncommon and arose primarily during periods of severe social and economic dislocation, particularly under colonialism.
• The rise of capitalism from the long 16th century onward is associated with a decline in wages to below subsistence, a deterioration in human stature, and an upturn in premature mortality.
• In parts of South Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and Latin America, wages and/or height have still not recovered."
