@ShaulaEvans I just subscribed to paid #search from @kagihq, because I was so sick of #Google and even #DuckDuckGo. I was tired of being the product. Initial impression: it's more than worth it.

I'm reading articles about how to get system-level access to #Android (#Shizuku, #ADB, etc.) so I can actually delete the #Chrome browser. I wish #Kagi offered their (free) #Orion browser for Android, but so far it's #Apple only; I'm using #Firefox, and considering #Vivaldi. Further down the road, I'm looking forward to #Motorola making phones and tablets that meet the exacting hardware standards of @GrapheneOS, so I can ditch Android altogether.

I'm likely to subscribe soon to one of the paid email plans from @Tutanota, so I can ditch Gmail.

“TL;DR: We presented this attack at hardwear.io NL 2025. Starting from an unprivileged adb shell on Google’s TV Streamer 4K, we use an ElectroMagnetic (EM) glitch on the Mediatek MT8696’s CPU to bypass the kernel-side capability checks of the setresuid syscall. The kernel falls through to commit_creds(), our calling process gets uid = 0, and we drop a telnetd-static listener on the device. We’re not there all the way, SELinux is still in effect, but the we glitched from shell to root on a 1.8 GHz Cortex-A55 CPU.”
