#BurgeonLab #WeekNotes 023 is out!
2026: Week 15/52 (Apr 6 – Apr 12)

I had lots of fun documenting what happened last week. I learnt new tech things: #Forgejo API with curl, bin/sh vs bin/bash scripts, creating a new #Hugo shortcode for #Mastodon embeds, diagram scripting, #homelab #networking, and more!

"I have gone through your website, this website needs more technical improvement for that you have to enter [sic!] into SEO (search Engine Optimization [sic!]) so that you will get more traffic as well as more business."

🤮

I keep getting such with unpleasant regularity.

Nobody can actually "go through" any of my web sites and come away with an impression I'm a business.

Also: No, thanks. I like my stuff quite as un-enshittificated as it is.

Not just that, also start using it for other things, like put your homelab admin panels up as hidden services on tor instead of using a VPN to access them from remote.
Same for websites you're hosting for your friend group.

That not just adds legitimate traffic, but also plausible deniability for everyone involved too. (And every website that has a .onion endpoint even if it is just a #SmallWeb - heck especially those - help a lot).

Sometimes in my blog posts I need to embed a video, but Markdown doesn’t have any syntax for it.

It turns out that animated AVIFs are technically images, they are lightweight, and I can use them in Markdown.

TIL that Animated AVIFs make lightweight videos

Embeding a video in a markdown post is not that easy. AVIF turns videos into lightweight animated images.

Demi-sel

🥳 New Kitten¹ Release

Fixes:

• Actually fixes the plain HTMX connection state handlers. They’re now stable and exactly match the behaviour of the Alpine.js handlers in plain HTMX (this was not trivial https://codeberg.org/kitten/app/commit/b53bb6d02c568b7119ae2851596943fad78a0ffa due to a limitation in HTMX https://github.com/bigskysoftware/htmx/issues/2131).

Enjoy!

Found in my RSS feeds: Blogosphere. From the About: “There are still plenty of people blogging out there. The writers haven’t disappeared. They’re just scattered, hard to find, buried under the noise of algorithm-driven feeds. Blogosphere exists to change that.
