Humanizing the web with a user-centric search engine and browser - no ads, no trackers, just you and the product you love.

Fun fact, using @kagihq's video search to find YouTube videos is about a billion times better than using YouTube's own search. You actually get videos relevant to your search terms and you don't get the completely useless "random shit other people watched" and "here's some irrelevant stuff you've watched before, why don't you just watch that again instead of what you're searching for" sections after the first ~5 maybe somewhat relevant results. Massive time saver and so much less frustrating.
Love that @kagihq puts a $ sign next to the result for Paywall content - and if you hover over the shield it will tell you how many ad trackers are on the result's page.

Nice write-up about the benefits of switching to a paid search engine (Kagi).

I like the "boat tied to a submarine" analogy of a lot of other free software that might seem good at first but is still not user-funded. As a user, I prefer to be the sole funder of the product I use, where possible, so that it fully serves me, its master. This is what it means to be the master of my own tools. I paid money for them.

Enough is enough—I dumped Google’s worsening search for Kagi

Enough is enough: I’ve jettisoned Google in favor of a search engine that doesn’t treat me like a product.

I switched to @kagihq long ago for my search. Never felt the need to drop back to Google. Yeah, it cost a little money (cup of coffee/month) but good things do and you're not the product or spied on.

How can we get to 1M users, without ever using ads? We've grown on word-of-mouth and organic press thus far. What's the single most impactful thing we should do next to accelerate adoption?

I did this over a year ago and have never once regretted it: https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2025/08/enough-is-enough-i-dumped-googles-worsening-search-for-kagi/

Dropping #Google search for #Kagi made me actually efficient using web search again. It's not that I don't use LLM web searches where appropriate but now I have a choice again, and my search provider is paid for by me, not by companies looking for my attention.

🤷 I'm a few years in now and I have zero regrets from dropping #GoogleSearch for #Kagi as well.
