From the makers of #Cowspiracy, #WhatTheHealth, and #Seaspiracy, comes the "final chapter" of the [insert movie trailer voice over]...

They have an initial goal of $300,000 USD and so far they have reached $100,000! I am considering contributing, but still figuring out which level to go for:

-Level 1 gives me access to the movie and the ability to share it digitally to 1 other person.
-Level 2 lets me share it with 2 people.
-Level 3 lets me share the movie with 4 people.
-Level 4 (and the last level I am considering due to my budget), lets me share the movie with 10 people!

Depending on how many movie passes I get I will be happy to share the full movie to anyone here that is interested to watch it for free. 🙂

A month or so ago, I posted a trailer about the upcoming documentary #Christspiracy, from the makers of #Cowspiracy, #WhatTheHealth, and #Seaspiracy.

I have been really interested in keeping up to date with the film's release so I signed up to their newsletter, and even joined the Facebook inner circle secret group (not so secret and anyone that is interested can join but you know 😂)

The very latest news to come out of the group is that the film makers will be releasing a #Kickstarter to give people the chance to see the film, support the film, and spread it's message. Paraphrasing from the email release:

It is no longer to be shown on #Netflix due to the filmmakers not wanting to soften the message apparently (an argument of #cencorship?). I can see this getting a lot of attention in the #Christian and wider #religious community. For good or for worse, this may perhaps involve conversations in those communities about how they treat their animals.

If the previous films (#Cowspiracy, #WhatTheHealth, #Seaspiracy) from the filmmakers are anything to go by, it will ignite a lot of debate, which can only be a good thing!

For those that are part of the #vegan community, I hope you will spread this trailer and movie to other #vegans to raise its awareness, as I am not sure how far it will spread without the marketing team of Netflix.

After watching #WhatTheHealth and #Cowspiracy, I made some time to check out a few other similar movies.

I first saw #Seaspiracy, and the message was very clear to me...

If you don't eat, but like and admire the intelligence of:
-#Whales 🐳
-#Dolphins 🐬
-#Sharks 🦈
and
-#Octopuses 🐙 (side note, #TeamOctopuses! 🐙🦑),

Then you shouldn't be eating #fish of any kind, and you should very well adopt a #vegan / #PlantBasedDiet. 🐟🌱🐠

Directed by Ali Tabrizi and available on Netflix, it has the same style as the previous films directed by Kip Andersen, so that could be seen as either a +ve or a -ve, depending on your bias. I thoroughly enjoyed it, finding the whale hunt and the subsequent whaler interview particularly powerful.

It is rated well on #imdb and is rated 'fresh' on #RottenTomatoes.

The second film I saw was #ForksOverKnives. This I found to be a much better film overall in presenting the history, science and research in benefit to a whole foods plant based diet. Sadly, I feel like the way it was filmed will put some people off (some -ve reviews talk about it being slow/boring (c.f. What The Health being over the top)). I personally didn't feel that. In fact, I am currently watching the Forks Over Knives Extended Interviews film, because I want to know more! It is the kind of film I wish someone recommended to me when it came out! It's the scientist in me talking. 🧑‍🔬

I recently watched 2 (dare I call them) #vegan films, even if not advertised as such:

1st: What The Health
2nd: Cowspiracy

Both directed by Kip Andersen, and both streaming on Netflix but also available to buy from their official website. They are rated decently on #imdb but theres not much critic reviews on #RottenTomatoes.

I thoroughly liked both of them (naturally that comes with my bias - #vegans can relate!). I believe people have criticized them for inaccuracies though I think that applies to only a few stats or facts cited.

I am not sure how I feel about the "trying to get an interview and got declined/didn't answer my questions" style of documenting, but I guess it ads to the dramatic effect. In particular, I wonder what was going on with the whole #Greenpeace thing? I wonder if he ever got to speak with them?

I would love to see a modern reviewing of them, especially Cowspiracy as it is going on to nearly 10 years old. How have the numbers changed since then? For e.g., do cows need less or more water? What The Health (about 6 years old) would also be interesting in that regard as there would be lots of scientific articles published since then commenting on the many benefits of a #wfpb style of diet.

My next viewing will be (you guessed it) Seaspiracy, and then I am keen to see many more such films. Keen to hear additional recommendations.
