True love is a partner who kindly makes you your “autism hot dog” (plain boiled hot dog with butter and no condiments) even though the whole world seems to think it’s gross, and she only eats hers grilled or panfried. It’s something I’m actually too embarrassed to ask for in public especially as a former sous chef and a food writer, but it makes a little safe space in my heart.
Oh boy, the ADHD and autism are tag-teaming me today. 😩 A dish that's been a great quick dinner go-to for the past couple of weeks has turned on me. I had dinner hours ago but I'm still nauseated because it was suddenly *not right* anymore. It's my own fault, I noticed something last time I had it but was hoping it was a fluke. It was not. Now off to find a new go-to.
I read somewhere on tiktok that this also falls under arfid. I'm not sure I'm on board with that. I'm not ruling it out either, but don't all/most AuDHDers experience this phenomenon? We can't all have arfid, surely?
If you’re #actuallyautistic what are/have been some of your #safefoods ?
My biggest one rn is broccoli cheese tots, ironic bc they’re sold as tater-free alternative tots but potatoes are easily one of my favorite foods. But these things are so good.
Anyway I can’t buy them anymore😓 so I’d be grateful for any new #safefood ideas
I have no food allergies, don’t like seafood or rubbery textures (mushrooms olives etc)
But am also just curious what other peoples safe foods are!
Burger King stopped offering whole grain burger bread and my autistic ass is sooo sad 😭
Wholegrain plant based whopper cheese has been a safe food for me for years and now I can't eat it.
Important #annoucement: this is a #safespace for people regardless of what they #eat. If you are going to #discriminate against others for #eating certain #foods here, you will be #blocked.
