@ArdentArchivist If you’re taking photos near the nest you’re required to have a license from the NIEA.
And yes, they do check.
Don’t ask how I know… 🤦🏼‍♂️

Ahh, well that seems more than reasonable. I hope they make people take a wee test/answer q’s to get the licence.

I remember being repeatedly buzzed by a male hummingbird (desert SW US) when I inadvertently strayed too close to his mate/nest. I took one shot and then gladly conceded victory to that brave, tiny wee bird - he made a noise like an electrical transformer, it was downright alarming!
