This was part of a (thankfully abandoned) #road scheme in my current hometown, as urban planners in Britain finally realised by 1970s that putting a large ring road through a residential area wasn't going to be pleasant for anyone (even drivers, as it would just attract more traffic and soon end up gridlocked at peak times like many such roads across the country)
