Has anyone else with #ObsessiveCompulsiveDisorder and/or #Trichotillomania had success with NAC (N-acetylcysteine) and then had it suddenly stop working for them? Have you tried it again, or found something else that helped?

Hey there. Figured I should make an introduction post of some sort, so here we go.

My name is Claire. You might know me by the handles chapien, chappydev, chapien_byte, chappybte, ClaireByte. But really, just Claire is fine. I'm an asexual transwoman living in the Pacific Northwest. I have kind of bad opsec, but I've been online for so long that I've kind of accepted that my privacy is dead. I am however trying to move away from big social network sites and into self hosting as much as I can.

I have a blog where I write short stories, as well as posts about mental health and LGBT issues.
https://chapien.net/

You can find links to other social media I use, including tumblr, bluesky, and a few other fedi places, at my
self hosted linktree.

You can message me on the Matrix
@chapien:transgirl.cafe.

A few things about me. I have ADHD, OCD, and OCPD (which is different from OCD). My OCPD can make me very argumentative, and I can lash out. I am trying to be better, and I have been improving. That said, I do have a request on how you can make this easier for me. I have a flowchart that I follow when I feel an argument is escalating. If I ask for something to be dropped, please drop it. In the interest of openness, I've attached that flowchart. If you have any questions about OCPD, I'd be happy to answer them!

Finally, my account is directed to an 18+ audience. Do not message me if you are under 18.

The Claire Scrolls

From probably around ages 8-13 I kept a large cardboard box my family got a package in in my bedroom, and every day after school I would toss in a blanket, reading light, and book then stand on the foot of my bed and hop into it (the only way I could get in with it standing upright) and then close the top above me and hang out in there for hours reading. To get out I would just push my weight to one side so the box tipped over with me in it and then climb and out put it back upright for the next time.

I controlled the light, I controlled how warm I was, and since the box was just big enough for me to sit in with my knees to my chest (it was probably ~4ft tall with a 2x2ft base but I was a pretty small kid) I could feel all 4 sides and the bottom and would immediately know if someone opened the top from the light, so I know no one could see me and could sit/act in a way that was actually comfortable for me (I was used to constantly adjusting my behavior to be socially expectable at all times because I was afraid if I didn't someone may be looking at/watching without me realizing and judge me for acting 'wrong' (I didn't know about the concept of masking at the time but I sure as hell knew how to do it). šŸ™ƒ

I adored my box and still think of my time in it as one of my most enjoyable/positive childhood memories.

Whats that? Oh no, there were never any signs I was neurodivergent as a kid, why do you ask? (/s)

Hi! I go by Marsh or some other names online. I'm here on Holograph with a somewhat personal account.

I previously only had a fandom account, but that one got mixed in with more personal posts after a while, so I made this personal account and a fandom alt when I decided to migrate. This is also why I didn't really transfer my old posts, haha. I guess this is a bit of an exercise in connecting with other things about myself besides the fiction I like.

I'm interested in non-corporate social media (like this), privacy, and FOSS. I'm curious about anarchism too. These interests led me to the fediverse, so I'll probably talk about these, though from a layperson POV. I also have my fandom interests of course, more info on
https://graffitiwall.net/@maybe_zubat

I tend to boost/renote a lot of things. I'll put content warnings and alt text (for images) on my original posts, but I can't guarantee that I'll have them for posts that don't originate from me. I can put some in replies, but I won't always feel like doing it immediately.

I might speak in Tagalog too sometimes. You can ask me what I mean if you want!

I don't really post a lot of photos of myself or other things for privacy reasons, so just trust me when I say I saw something funny while walking outside or something lol

I've been formally diagnosed with ADHD, GAD, and OCD, and I tend to complain about how those affect me a lot (especially OCD). I'm looking for community, so reach out to me if you want!

Here's my Pronouns page btw:
https://en.pronouns.page/@maybeitszubat
The most relevant info there is that I'm bisexual and arospec (not sure about the specifics for the latter), and I'm always hoping for more of a community here for those too.

I'm posting an intro due to the current influx. I hope you have a good time here if you're new!

Not normally one to promote things, but doing my bit for the other authors too,
Microwrites is a zine for everyone, starting online and then making it into print in 2023. Now published is issue 2, featuring several authors (including myself) in short works on the theme of oceans.
I am really proud to be able to call myself a published author, and also to be sumvitting something for the next edition too.
Its independant, features #actuallyautistic and #actuallyocd writers (not exclusively, but open to all).

Plug over, thank you.

microwrites issue two

microwrites is a short (very short!) fiction zine, leaning to the weird but not averse to any genre. Starting in an exclusively web-based format, this is the second paper issue. Inside you will find a colour-illustrated set of ten stories inspired by the sea - from the old ghosts of fading coastal villages to secretive tales of night swimming to the strange lives of boisterous pirates, microwrites Issue Two is split into three distinct zones: coast. beach. ocean. Each section is prefaced by a guardian, creatures of their environment, creating a distinctive visual style for a zine filled with equally distinctive voices. Some writers are brand new to the craft, some have been writing with microwrites from the start and some are independently published authors in their own right. If enjoy this collection, please consider picking up Issue One, and look forward to Issue Three, coming 2025!

I'm ashamed to admit how bad my Trichotillomania has gotten again. It's making my joint pain and subluxation SO BAD I could cry.

I think that's part of my depression too.

I'm scared how much worse all these things are going to get now that winter is practically here.

When my #OCD was at its worst, I also avoided knives altogether. I was in charge of doing dishes, but, for a time, someone else in my family had to handle the knives for me because I was so scared I'd hurt someone. #ActuallyOCD #MentalIllness

Spoonie // chronically ill friends, particularly #pwME, if you've ever been on Risperidone I'd be grateful to hear about your experiences.

I have moderate ME/CFS and my psychiatrist and I are considering Risperidone for my insomnia and depression that are comorbid with refractory OCD.
