A new clinical trial suggests that repeated doses of psilocybin can safely reduce symptoms of obsessive-compulsive disorder. The findings provide evidence that multiple weekly treatments offer lasting relief for those struggling with traditional therapies.
This article reports on a clinical trial where multiple weekly doses of psilocybin were tested for obsessive-compulsive disorder, showing safety and significant reduction in symptoms, with some participants experiencing remission by eight weeks and lasting benefits at follow-up. The study highlights a potential new treatment pathway for OCD that may complement or surpass standard therapies for certain patients.
This topic is of interest to psychology because it explores how altered states of consciousness and serotonin-related mechanisms can influence cognitive flexibility and repetitive thinking patterns, shedding light on novel approaches to treating entrenched symptomatology.

#obsessivecompulsivedisorder manifests in some strange ways.
Such as in how you eat.
Many people like some sort of bread with their pasta.
Meanwhile my brain is like "but you already have a giant pile of carbs, why are you adding a different form of carbs? Get like, some protein or veggies or something,".
Also if my fork isn't the right size it bothers me.
I'd rather eat with my hands than an incorrectly sized fork.
