Chatter might be entertaining, but it does not yield rulings
The arguments, I’m referring are those surrounding and preceding the ruling - the journalistic chatter.
There seems to have been a lot of focus on whether #Trump could escape the 14th amendment on the basis that his oath of office did not use the word “support” or that he is not considered to be an “officer”
I figured the #RightWing would be attacking #Jan6 events as NOT being an insurrection, more a visitation of the Capitol 😜
It’s typical #Trump misdirection. I expect he didn’t read Mein Kampf, I understand that it is a particularly turgid read, then again that might have suited his brain function
That said, he has chosen to absorb elements of the underlying message and is using Nazi / #Fascist language
The question now is whether his disavowal, means the Hitler comparisons are hurting?
@mnutty worth remembering that he was always a fascist, and just because it's easy to spot now doesn't mean that this is something he's only recently become.
I say this because when fascists are labelled fascists people tend to shy away from it until there's blood on the walls and he isn't the only fascist floating around the corridors of power.
It is extraordinary how this man has destroyed his reputation on behalf of a narcissist who won’t lift a finger to help him.
I will add that #Giuliani’s reputation was unjustifiably inflated as a result of 9/11. He was much lauded for his presence on the streets of #NYC that day.
New Yorkers though know he was out and about because his emergency center was in the WTC, a decision he had made that policy experts had counseled against
Yes, Rudy wasn’t nearly the guy he sold himself as. But he did a hell of a job of *that*.
And like so many, he sold his reputation (overblown) to the service of Trump. For… nothing, really. And Trump turned it to shit, as he does with everything he touches.
And they never seem to learn.
As a #NewYorker, I’m somewhat skeptical of #RudyGiuliani’s 9/11 redemption.
His ubiquity on the streets of #NYC on that awful day likely had more to do with destruction of NYC’s emergency center which #Rudy had insisted be placed in the Trade Center Towers against the advice of emergency management experts.
Essentially #Giuliani was homeless that day through his own mismanagement
