I arranged to take the car back to the indie car dealer this morning for diagnostics.
He found that the charge socket locking pin was sticking and not locking properly, although it was working before we bought the car. It has been cleaned and appears to work now. He took us out for a drive around to find a rapid charger, and we were able to do a problem free charge from 55% to 85% in less than 20 minutes, at up to 39Kw. We stopped charging as we were going to get bored and went back to the workshop.
Over two hours of time to get that sorted, and he didn't charge us anything.

Great service from a little independent dealer garage on an industrial estate.

Drove the #Mini #EV to the dealer for a service and got a petrol convertible as a courtesy car. The convertible is undoubtedly cool, especially on a lovely sunny day, but driving the two back to back the EV wins hands down. Nothing really wrong with the petrol one, just relatively sluggish and unresponsive in the throttle (it's the small engine) while making a bit of noise, and feels heavier in the corners. Also a few creaks and rattles but maybe that's just the soft top.

Quite a sad development from #Lotus to drop #EV approach. But also I just constantly get the feeling Lotus doesn’t know what it wants to be. Time after time new owners or management seem to want to make it into some snazzy Ferrari like thing. Yet it’s had its biggest successes when it has done something fun, sporty and approachable (Lotus 7, Lotus Elise), rather than the dull supercars or SUVs.
