After seeing videos of top Trump administration officials suggesting their son was a “domestic terrorist” who attacked the officers who shot him, Alex Pretti's issued a statement:

“The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. They added that videos showed #AlexPretti was not holding a gun (...) but holding his phone with one hand and using the other to shield a woman who was being pepper-sprayed.

Man killed by Border Patrol in Minneapolis was ICU nurse

Family members say the man who was killed by a federal officer in Minneapolis was an intensive care nurse at a U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs hospital who cared deeply about people and was upset by President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown in his city. Thirty-seven-year-old Alex Jeffrey Pretti was an avid outdoorsman who loved getting in adventures with his dog. He had participated in protests following the killing of Renee Good by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Law Enforcement officer earlier this month. Court records showed he had no criminal record. His family said he had never had any interactions with law enforcement beyond a could traffic tickets.

I have family in #Minnesota, so my posts are more political than usual lately. It seems a bit vapid of me to keep talking about my own hobbies and special interests while such an astonishing crisis of the rule of law becomes increasingly severe in the US, although I know many people would rather not see political posts at all. Here are some of my opinions on recent events:

  • Trump has been impeached 3 times but not removed from office, then there is no branch of government in the US powerful enough to keep Trump’s political power in check. At this point, anyone I hear calling the United States a “democracy,” I consider you to be either an ignoramus, or worse; in either a completely untrustworthy source of information.

  • Trump’s administration very deliberately uses Nazi slogans, especially Kristi Neom who is responsible for the current ongoing attack on Minnesota. At this point, if you are going to keep splitting hairs about whether Trump is a fascist/neo-Nazi, and complain about the term “fascism” being over-used and meaningless, I consider you to be a useful idiot at best, or Trump collaborator who is obfuscating truth and justice at worst.

  • The ICE agents who murdered Renee Good blocked access to doctors and EMTs who tried to assist her as she lay dying, to make certain she died from her wounds. This same exact tactic was used when Israeli gangsters fatally beat US citizen Sayfollah Musallet in the West Bank, and used violent force against EMTs from reaching him for three hours to make certain Musallet died from his wounds. For over a decade, US law enforcement agencies receive training from the Israeli military on tactics to repress protest and non-violent resistance. If you are protesting ICE and CBP but believe the goals of these protests are separate to the issue the Israel/Palestine conflict, I consider you an ignoramus or worse.

That is all.

"A breakfast restaurant, a bike shop, and a brewery: These are some of the hundreds of businesses across Minnesota closing their doors Friday as part of a general strike to push Immigration and Customs Enforcement out of the state.

“There’s a time to stand up for things, and this is it,” Alison Kirwin, the owner of Al’s Breakfast in Minneapolis, told the New York Times. Kirwin is closing up shop for the day as part of the wider strike to push “ICE out of Minnesota”—the motto for the protest. “If it takes away from a day of our income,” Kirwin said, “that is worthwhile.”
