In Winona, Minnesota there is a very good doughnut shop spelled "Bloedoes".
It rhymes with "Play-doh's".
Does that spelling look like it would sound anything like that?!
It sure doesn't to me.
Doughnuts 🍩 are really good, first place we found with the proper yeast doughnuts we prefer over cake doughnuts.
As we're from North Alabama, their glazed plain are the closest we've found to Krispy Kreme in this Driftless area.

This a local Indivisible event! We are gathering every week on Saturday to protest the ICE occupation in this country. Meet at highway 55 and Northwest Blvd at noon. Organizers will be at the northwest corner, but feel free to use crosswalks to safely stand on the other corners. Do not park in the lot of the SW corner of the intersection as the business owners have requested protesters not use their lot. Please don’t park in areas of the streets with no parking signs. Per Plymouth PD we are allowed to park on Annapolis Circle N parallel to 55 in front of McD’s from the end of the road up to the No Parking sign but not past it. At our 01/31/26 protest, it was reported that someone came by toward the end who was repeatedly asking for information from a protester. This location is very near a hotel known to be housing federal agents. For the safety of our community, please do not give anyone identifying information. Peacefully disengage anyone behaving like this and alert the organizers. Water will be provided as well as extra signs for those who want them. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*

Volunteer Organized for Indivisible Highway 55 & Northwest Boulevard, Northwest corner, Plymouth, MN 55441 Suggestions include making big letters on your signs, and stiffer signs flap less in the wind. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*

This an opportunity for people near Plymouth to stand up and show that we do not intend to quietly watch as the democracy we love is being taken apart. Make a big sign and join a lot of friendly people who have the same fears you do. We meet every Monday at Highway 55 and Northwest Blvd. In the winter we meet from 4pm to 5pm. We do not encourage, nor expect any violence, physical or verbal. This is about making our message heard. *A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values.*

After yucky freezing rain days and some travel I was able to bicycle to Peterson and back to Rushford on what turned out to be a very pleasant afternoon. Heard more birdsong today than I've heard in a while.

I wonder what will happen to the “millions of dollars in assets.”
Meanwhile, the prepaid subscribers are trying to get the $25 fee back with the company having gone dark.

From someone on the ground in Minnesota, a thread on how to face what's happening in the U.S.
"the choice is ourselves or nothing"
If you ever asked yourself what you'd have done in the face of the Nazi state and the persecution of Jewish people therein, this is the time to find the true answer.
Every person helping their neighbors--however they do--is heroic in their own way.
