Finally set up my new #scanning station using a digital camera instead of a #flatbed #scanner. Initial setup is more troublesome but the whole process is much faster. The results with my #omsystem #om-1 and #hires 80mpix are great for 35mm film. For 120 film the results are a bit better than for #epson #v700

#OMDS #ZUIKO

@bkrawczyk Ooo, I’d love to hear more about the physical setup.
@abosio it is fairly straightforward.
1. you need a macro lens - for flat field of focus and close focusing. Reversed lenses are OK but may have focus curvature.
2. you need a light - for B&W any light, for colour negatives - one with high CRI value, above 95%. I ordered Cinestill from Valoi
3. you need some film holder - to hold it flat. Any will do. Valoi has a lot, https://clifforth.co.uk/ is another, I'm using https://shop.lomography.com/eu/digitaliza-35-mm-scanning-mask
4. you need a tripod
5. you need a small, flat mirror
Essential Film Holder

Essential Film Holder is THE best value film holder for DSLR scanning. Includes FREE courier shipping to over 93 countries. Supports widest range of film formats.

@abosio it looks like in attached picture. Mirror method allows you to have film surface parallel to sensor surface - much better and easier than a spirit level.
Shoot with histogram not to clip anything but to go through the densest parts of the negative (black parts). Reverse in your favorite editor. B&W reversal is easy. Color negatives are a pain. Check Negative Lab Pro for Lightroom (plugin) or https://www.filmlabapp.com/desktop for standalone app or phone.

Good luck!

Why level your scanning setup?

@abosio instead of a tripod you may try getting a proper copy stand but the good ones are expensive and if you already have a tripod, that's enough.
@bkrawczyk ah, very cool, thanks for that!
