A band that I missed the boat in the first time around, but am glad I’m catching up with now.

On Cocteau Twins’ Simon Raymonde’s Bella Union label, Raymonde produced the band’s first two albums for the label.

Kind of a subdued and aching #indie #alternative folk music? Really well-written songs that could have come from any time, particularly the 60s or 70s, depending on whatever production approach you chose.

John Grant is an excellent songwriter, and this best of compilation is an excellent set of songs for a blustery Fall day.

Now, I need to listen to John Grant’s solo albums, which there are several, also on the Bella Union label. I really like his songwriting approach, and he’s got a very comforting voice.

Well, since we did the JAZZ TRIO Air earlier in the week, I guess it’s time for the French electronic band Air.

Moon Safari was one of MANY albums I obsessed over in 1997. It was such a killer year for music. Grunge was dead, but rock was doing just fine; between OK Computer, Urban Hymns, Time Out Of Mind, Ladies And Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space, and Dig Me Out just to name a few.

Moon Safari was the soundtrack to many a night of chemical-fueled ribaldry that year. I was 20 years old, partying hard, playing and going to tons of shows.
My life was the physical embodiment of “Sexy Boy”.

It’s impossible for me to hear Moon Safari now and not have some toxic flashback to that time; when I was running through brick walls and looking really good while doing it.

Essential late #80s #alternative #powerpop on this beautiful Fall Saturday morning.

I’m not quite sure what’s in the water out there in Scotland, but they’ve provided us with some killer bands over the years, of which Close Lobsters is another.

This record is impossibly good; great melodies, shimmering guitars, just outstanding songs.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard this record without starting it again as soon as it’s over.

Gems 💎 everywhere.
Highly recommend it.
