First Sunday sounds coming from Miles Davis - Kind of Blue. This is the MoFi Box and while not the worst I’ve heard this album, it’s certainly quite far from the best too.

Compared to the all analogue chain pressing that was done in 2013 for RSD, this one is a bit of a mess.

First it was a Tape to DSD64 to Record process, it’s also full of pressing issues which were never caught in the QC which is a shame.

My own copy while not too bad, it does have some issues with record 2, the spindle hole is slightly off leading to miss tracking and slight distortion especially in the miss on the outer edge of the record. It’s also quite a noisy record too.

Sunday on Safari with David Dunlop.

This is one of those records that I just couldn’t help buying, when I saw it in a scond hand shop years ago. And it turns out that there’s something calming about the sounds of the savannah combined with the voice of Mr Dunlop.

I have plenty of “normal” records with different genres of music in my #vinylcollection but some times, I like to focus on the more odd finds. So I’ll probably share some of these here

Truly one of the GREAT classic albums of the #2000s , and the last gasp of Jimmy Eat World’s brilliance.

After this, the magic was gone for me.

Bleed American is big, shiny and catchy in all of the best ways possible. The songs are GREAT, and their record is produced to perfection.

The final piece of a brilliant 3-album run, and for me, a record I will always have an undying and UNAPOLOGETIC love for.

An absolutely perfect, jangly #80s #alternative record from Down Under.

As much as I really like the other Gurus albums as well, THIS will always be their best record. It’s just so fucking FUN on every front, and it’s mixed and produced to perfection.

This Canadian press has a different running order AND (inferior) cover than the original Australian press, but who cares? All the songs are here, and they’re all AWESOME.

As near-perfect of a 37 minutes that you could ever want.

Seven classic songs for a Saturday afternoon.

As a kid, this was the #1 “play it again” tape I owned.

As soon as it was over, you just flipped it over and did it again.
Every one of these songs are etched on my 14 year old brain forever.

“Waiting Room” is clearly brilliant, but growing up, it was “Bad Mouth” for me.
THAT song was one of the first handful of songs that my first band and I ever learned.
We’d play it at birthday parties or whatever drunken “my parents are out of town” fiesta, and people thought it was our tune. 😂
Kids are so stupid. 😂

The final album Dinosaur Jr. made for Warner Bros., one that was unjustly ignored by the label.

Even diehard Dino devotees were unaware it had even come out, & I was certainly one of them. The label heard no single, decided their relationship had run its course, & did NOTHING to promote the record.
A criminal act.

Hand It Over is an INCREDIBLE record, and even though the band “broke up” for a decade shortly after its release, before the original lineup would triumphantly reunite, the record speaks for itself.

Hand It Over’s crown jewel is the song “Alone”; a slow-burning soulful dirge, with some of the nastiest and gnarliest lead guitar work J’s ever done.
It’s an astonishing song.

This edition also comes expanded; including the “Take A Run At The Sun” E.P., a B-side, and live tracks.

ESSENTIAL.

Another from the Boston-centric pile of scores from my son and I’s trip down island.

This is to be filed under “GRAIL ACHIEVED”, as this was the ONLY album of Buffalo Tom’s I was missing.

Their first, & the only one that was released on SST Records. It was also produced by another Boston legend; J. Mascis of Dinosaur Jr..

One of my hometown’s most beloved bands, Buffalo Tom had a really great run. Every album they made was FANTASTIC, and they had a handful of signature singles like “Sodajerk” and “Summer”, and even we featured in the beloved #90s show My So Called Life.

This self titled album is BT at their noisiest & most ramshackle; something I’m sure you can blame Mascis for. 😂

Still, you can tell it is very much the same Buffalo Tom that would break through a bit later.

Incredible band, clsssic albums all.
